Register now and get access to the Virtual Exhibition Hall, which will be officially launched on 27 January 2021!
Semiconductors play a central role in the ongoing digitalization wave, with the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and emerging segments like AI driving its growth – and at phenomenal rates. The industry remains one of the bright spots in Singapore and other major global economies despite the pandemic.
Following the successful inaugural event in 2019, the Electronics Industry Day 2021 is back for a second edition, organised by Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) and supported by JTC. It will bring key industry stakeholders, semiconductor/electronics companies and students together on one common platform. It aims to engage our young talents by showcasing the vibrancy and resilience as well as career opportunities of the industry.
The Launch Ceremony of the Electronics Industry Day 2021 will kick-start the month of events. Highlights include Minister’s speech, virtual plant tours, walk-through of the event platform and online contests with attractive prizes. Students and job seekers will get to know the upcoming workforce development initiatives and exciting career opportunities available in the electronics industry.

Topic:Semiconductor Industry – the Blue Ocean in a New World Economy
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated shift to a new world economy, one which is virtual and being ‘connected’, enabled significantly by technology. Semiconductor contents are now prevalent in today’s consumer lifestyle products, such as the indispensable mobile phones, the internet of things in house appliances and the smart automotive equipped with multitudes of safety sensors. On the other hand, industry players are leveraging advances in robotics, sensors and semiconductor enabled artificial intelligence to deliver better products and personalized services at competitive cost.
This, in turn, further transformed the semiconductor industry into a vastly expanded blue ocean, for aspiring, talented career seekers. The presentation aims to provide brief overview of the semiconductor market and its relevance in today and tomorrow’s world. It will also introduce Lam Research, a leading capital equipment supplier in the semiconductor industry, and share its perspective on skills needed in the industry.
Deputy Head / Scientist
Institute of Microelectronics, A*STAR
Lennon graduated BS summa cum laude from Columbia in 2009 and with PhD from Stanford in EE in 2016. Since his PhD graduation, he has been working as a scientist in Sensors, Actuators, and Microsystems.
